Dehydrated Skin? Here’s the Best Skin Care Routine for Hydrated, Glowing Skin
Before We Go On
Dehydrated skin is more common than you think and it doesn’t always have to do with the amount of water you’re intaking. Your skin can be itchy, dry, and dull. It can cause an uneven skin tone and causing blemishes to look more noticeable. Oh, here’s the thing all skin types can have dehydrated skin, it’s a skin condition and different from dry skin.
Your skin becomes dehydrated when it lacks water, it’s most commonly due to moisture loss because of a weak barrier.
How can you tell if your skin is dehydrated? Easy. Pinch the skin on your forehead or cheek area. If you see wrinkling and your skin doesn’t immediately bounce back after you pinched it then your skin just might be dehydrated.
If so you'll want to focus a chunk of your skincare routine on keeping the skin hydrated. For this post, we’ll focus on a basic skincare routine.
Start off with a cleanser that doesn't strip away your natural oils and minerals.
Dr.Althea Amino Acid Cleanser ($18)
You want to look for a cleanser that doesn’t leave your skin feeling dehydrated and stripped of its natural minerals. We recommend Dr. Althea Amino Acid Cleanser - not only do the amino acids work to keep your skin hydrated, supple and healthy. The cleanser is an amazing bubble cleanser that works away impurities and pollutants from the skin. Like all cleansers use with warm water and gently work the cleanser into the skin before rinsing off!
Use a Hydrating Essence Toner.
Dr.Althea Premium Intensive Essence Toner ($45)
To keep this routine simple, we recommend using an essence toner. Try the Premium Intensive Essence Toner, it will replenish your skin with nutrients and moisture. It will also start to form a protective water barrier to keep your skin hydrated all day long.
For a better treatment use a sheet mask.
Dr.Althea Water Glow Aqua Ampoule Mask ($19)
For the extra boost and a bit of self-love, spend some time with a hydrating sheet mask. We recommend the Water Glow Aqua Ampoule Mask. It will alleviate any symptoms found in dehydrated skin and increase your skin’s ability to retain moisture. Quick tip: Don’t forget to tap the remaining essence into the skin or use it as a body moisturizer!
Finish off with a hydrating moisturizer.
Dr.Althea Water Glow Aqua Cream ($45)
Of course, no skincare routine is complete without the moisturizer. This last step is perfect for locking in all the moisturizing you did prior to this step and of course, adding just a little bit more hydration. We recommend Dr. Althea Water Glow Aqua Cream, a mild moisturizer, perfect for creating the final layer of protection.
For day time, finish off with sunscreen!
Post-Skin Care
Dehydrated skin, if not severe, is absolutely treatable with lifestyle changes and a suitable skin care routine to ensure your skin is retaining its moisture.

- Drink alcohol in moderation or don’t drink it at all.

- Catch up on some Z’s.
- Eat more plant-based foods.
