The Simple Guide to Transitioning Your Skincare Routine: Summer to Fall
Before We Go On
-
As the seasons' transition from one to the next and the weather gets cooler - our skincare routine must follow suit. Many of us don’t change our products to fit the season, which may not be the best for maintaining the health and look of our skin (guilty as charged). But, the continuous use of summer products in the fall can lead to dry, flaky skin. To avoid unhappy skin, we have compiled a simple guide for transitioning into a Fall skincare routine. Let’s get into it!
Thicker moisturizer
As the weather becomes drier, it’s time to protect the moisture in your skin with a thicker moisturizer! Ingredients to love are Ceramide, Squalane, and Shea butter! It’ll keep your skin healthy and replenish the natural fatty acids you lose during colder seasons. We recommend trying the Power Brightening Glutathione Cream and Water Glow Aqua Cream.
More chemical exfoliants and brighteners
After tanning and increased sun exposure during the summer months, your skin has likely acquired new dark spots and maybe some sun damage. With Fall taking over, your skin can now handle more sun-sensitive ingredients that also work to correct sun damage and lighten dark spots. We recommend the Natural Brightening Velvet Mask, or the Power Brightening Glutathione Cream (mentioned above).
Humidifier
You spend a whole lot of time sleeping, or so you should be. Your skin is at its most vulnerable state while you’re asleep, and is most susceptible to losing moisture. The best way to combat this (on top of a great moisturizer) is to turn on a humidifier.
Moisturizing Cleanser
Goodbye to strong cleansers that are made to clear excess oil and sebum. Hello to gentle, mild, hydrating cleansers. Yup, the thicker moisturizer isn’t enough, your fall skincare routine should be focused on retaining as much of your natural oils as possible. Although that foaming cleanser that makes your skin feel clean in the summer was great - it’s not the best thing to have for Fall. We recommend the Foaming Cleanser and Bubble O2 Mask.
Listen to Your Skin
Regardless of all the advice above, the best way to transition is to see how your skin reacts to the new environment. Then switch products accordingly. Nothing beats being attentive to what your skin may need that day or that season.
SPF, SPF, SPF
This cannot be stressed enough, SPF should never be ignored. There are so many amazing products with built-in SPF. SPF will protect your skin from sun damage and aging. It’s never the wrong season for SPF.
