Natural Ingredients that Revive Dull Skin, So You Can Have the Perfect Glow
Before We Go On
-
We all want radiant, glowing skin - that’s the dream isn’t it? But it’s often difficult to pinpoint how exactly to achieve that dewy look without the help of makeup. Although an adequate amount of sleep, a balanced diet, and maybe inner peace might be all the right ways to achieve glowing skin - it’s much easier said than done. Luckily for us, skin care products with the right ingredients can help us get there too. But, this isn’t to disregard the fact that we should try to maintain a healthy lifestyle as well (it just can be difficult to).
We’ll be looking at natural ingredients that you will want in your skin care products and in your pantry. Here’s what you’ll want to add to your shopping list next time!
Rosehip Seed Oil
Rosehip seed oil likely an ingredient you’ve heard before. If not - it’s definitely a flower that you know. It’s derived from the fruit or the seeds of the rose plant rather than the petals (but Rose Oil is also great for glowing skin). It’s a huge ingredient in skincare often used for more mature skin. But you’ve seen it in lighter forms for younger skin - toners, sprays, and mists. It’s hydrating, antioxidant-rich, soothes, and naturally brightens the skin. It does a whole lot more as well, it boosts skin health, and it is rich in fatty acids. Rosehip is perfect for normal to dry skin.
It’s possible to find it by itself, you can apply a few drops on your skin and voila, instant glow and it’s guaranteed to improve your skin over time. If you’re not a fan of using oils for your skin - just check the ingredients list next time you head out to shop for skin care.
Green Tea
Green tea is highly talked about in the skincare and wellness community. And we’ve concluded that it is not overrated at all. This star ingredient is truly amazing for the skin - it’s a super antioxidant which protects the skin from harmful environmental stressors (which dulls your skin). This ingredient is perfect for acne-prone/oily skin, as it’s great for reducing acne. Dry skin types may not prefer green tea, but it’s still possible to reap the benefits of it as long as you look for green tea skin care products that also incorporate highly moisturizing ingredients.
Shea Butter
Another classic ingredient in skincare - Shea Butter is indeed a super ingredient for all the right reasons. If you think your skin is looking dull because of dryness then it’s the perfect natural ingredient for you. Its emollient properties mean that your skin will stay moisturized for a longer length of time compared to other moisturizers. Like Green tea, Shea butter protects your skin, thanks to the fatty acids in it - which restores your skin barrier. A stronger skin barrier means a stronger defense against environmental stressors that damage your skin structure.
Oatmeal
Another edible, super antioxidant. Perfect for sensitive skin and all skin types - it has strong healing, moisturizing, and skin protecting abilities. It’s also a natural brightening ingredient - so when applied topically it’ll brighten dull skin. It also balances pH levels and soaks up excess sebum. A highly multi-functional ingredient this is something even the most sensitive skin can handle.
Rice
Rice is one of Asia’s favorite skincare ingredients. Another pantry ingredient - rice is amazing for flawless, bright, and supple skin. It’s an incredibly gentle ingredient that is easily absorbed into the skin. It tightens skin and has anti-aging properties. Need I say more? It’s great as the food and great as a skincare ingredient.
Summary
These are all ingredients that you can easily access at the closest grocery store but beyond that, they’re things that you should definitely look for in your skin care products. But, if you’re looking for a quick pick me up for dull skin and maybe you don’t own skin care with these then I’m sure your pantry will have one of these ingredients. The great thing is you can turn these into at home DIY’s - there are tons of recipes on the internet if you’re looking for an at-home spa day instead! Good luck!
