Before We Go On
We've been chatting a lot about face masking-from multi-masking to what type of face mask is best for you. While all of that is great to know for people at any point in their mask journey to really elevate the experience there are certain tips one needs to know. Assuming you've dipped your toes into the world of masking- we've compiled a list of tips and tricks that will level up your #MondayMasking game. So, today we'll be talking about the top 10 things that you'll want to know to get the most out of your face mask. Let's get into it!
Please, please, please cleanse before applying any sort of mask. Without cleansing, the goodness of the mask won't fully be absorbed because your pores will be filled with debris. Cleansing allows more room for your skin to soak in all the essential nutrients that the mask provides. So before you give up on a mask that might not seem to be doing anything-it's best to cleanse gently before applying the face mask.
This is another prep step but it's optional and takes place after cleansing (and before masking). Like cleansing, the point of exfoliating is to create a clean canvas for your face mask so your skin can better absorb all the nutrients. Gently exfoliate your skin to remove any dead skin cells then put on your face mask! You'll definitely see a positive difference.
3.Wash hands before applying
Actually, wash your hands before touching your face in any situation. Dirty, bacteria-filled hands are your skin's worst enemy. Hands down-and away from your face. Wash them up before bringing them close to your face and definitely wash them before touching the mask that will be on your face for 15-30 minutes.
So now that you're ready to get your mask on, and you feel that your skin needs to be treated differently in different areas then that means it is time to try this new trend! Use your time efficiently and multi-mask .
5.Pat on Sheet Masks
If you're applying a sheet mask, don't forget to gently pat on the sheet mask to get the essence into your pores.
6.Use the excess essence
With sheet masks (especially Dr. Althea Sheet masks ) there can be a lot of essences leftover in the packaging. Do not throw that out! Use it as a body lotion or create another sheet mask by soaking some cotton pads in the essence. No need to let good things go to waste!
7.Take off sheet mask as instructed
Leaving on a sheet mask for longer It will not be as effective as you may think it is! Since the sheet mask's job is to deliver the essence to your skin if you leave it on after your skin has soaked up all the essence the sheet mask material itself may begin to soak up moisture from your skin. Leaving your skin dry. Not at all what you want to happen.
8.Use your face mask consistently
As we know with all skincare consistency is key. If there is a routine that is working for you try it for a month at least and keep the usage of the face mask consistent in order to see results. It's ideal for results to be immediate-but skin regeneration speeds up for no one.
9.Finish with a moisturizer
After all the goodies from your mask is absorbed into your skin, seal it in with a moisturizer . A lot of people have the misconception that face masks (especially hydrating or moisturizing ones) can act as a moisturizer. Contrary to that belief hydrating and moisturizing masks gets deep into the skin and the only way to maintain that moisture is to seal it off with a heavier product. The moisturizer adds an extra layer to keep the essence in the skin or else it may easily evaporate especially if you have damaged or sensitive skin.
10.Use sunscreen during the day
Lastly, if you do a sheet mask and the sun is still out don't forget to put sunscreen on your skin. Yes. You must always use sunscreen as the sun without protection can be damaging to the skin!
